homunculus

Categorized as “subversive groove rock” – an amalgamation of diverse influences and musical genres. homunculus attracts an enormously wide range of musical fans based on their uncanny ability to move from a lush ballad to a hard rocker. Imagine The Beatles, The Meters, Frank Zappa, The Talking Heads and Nick Drake getting together to create a wonderful new style of music. Their songs have been featured on MTV and VH1. The Newbees

The Newbees began their songwriting collective in 2004, and have been producing compelling original compositions ever since. The band crafted their sound by blending rich harmony and improvisation, with lush string orchestrations and rock and roll sensibility. Not only do they write tremendously catchy original tunes, they are one of the premier Beatles tribute bands in the country – headlining Abbey Road On The River 2 years straight in Louisville, KY and Washington, DC. for algernon
Jason Wells began performing in Cincinnati, OH around the year 2000 as a solo performer. A prolific songwriter, he assembled a host of different musicians to back him for live shows until “for algernon” was born with a set lineup, consisting of drums, guitar, bass, keys, trumpet and saxophone. Their music style ranges from buoyant indie-pop to dark and broken folk. The band continues work on their latest album, to be released in early 2012. LEARN MORE
